What fun activities does the summer bring to Prague?
Summer season is upon us - you can feel the summer in the air, its hot, sweaty, feels like party and you don't want to work or stay inside. In fact nobody does, so for summer season the whole city kind of of shuts down and at least half of Czechs leaves to vacation homes and summer cottages in woods. Nothing gets done in summer.
And the tourists take over the city, but if its so hot, you don't want to run from museum to museum...luckily we have the
BEER GARDENS and RESTAURANT GARDENS and everybody will eat and drink outside.
One of the biggest beergarden is Letna Park - good beer and amazing views of the city.
Strelecky ostrov offers nice rest in the shade close to the river (obviously, it is an island :) as well as Kampa park, both in the very downtown of Prague.
If you care for some Shakespeare classic of midsummer nights...visit live performance at the Prague Castle. Some performances are in English as well, but who does not know the classis by heart...Hamlet or Othello? Hint: they are all going to die...unless you go see a comedy and only some of them will die.
If you care more for music, summer is filled with music festivals. One of the very popular ones is United Islands of Prague.
Unfortunately many Czech or Prague building do not have a/c...but many do have cold and also very cool basements, wine cellars and pubs, which is pretty good way how to survive hot summer days. Or you can opt for the Ice Pub, in case you really wanna cool down.
